Saturday (cont.)

After circling around Cuernavaca in the early afternoon, Javier and Sonia finally found Victoria´s home. (Victoria is our host mother while we are at language school.) We´ll be living here for three weeks.

Victoria lives in a gated community only three minutes from Instituto Chac-Mool where we are in school. We didn´t really know what to expect - Victoria met us out in the street. We unpacked our bags and walked to our rooms. Sonia followed close behind us check everything out. We each had a room and bathroom which was very nice - especially since we´ve been sharing everything for the past week. All three rooms are on the terrace of her house with space for us to hang out outside if we want.

Victoria is wonderful and has been extremely generous and hospitable since we first called to tell her about our arrival. Soon after we arrived, we ate comida (like lunch, but it´s served in the middle of the afternoon - usually 3pm). She had cooked us pescado sorpresa con pasta (fish surprise with pasta). Victoria was concerned about how we would like her food. She told us she was a little nervous, but we liked it very much. Immediately following lunch, we went to our rooms to rest awhile before heading our for a tour of the local parts of town - restaurants, tiendas (stores), cafes, and the supermercado (owned by Wal-Mart, of course!). I must say it was the nicest Wal-Mart I remember visiting.

Later in the evening, we had a visit from the Pastor at the Iglesia Metodista to discuss our stay and to get a plan for us to attend church there the next day.

Dinner came a little later and was excellent. Victoria is a great cook and a wonderful host. Her family is also in and around most of the time. She has two sons and a daughter and two grandchildren. They are all just super! I think we are in for a treat these next three weeks!
